Many colleagues at Fontys have already attended some of the Generative AI Basics workshops about Microsoft Copilot, offered by the Fontys Scrum Team Blended Learning and the Fontys Knowledge Institute for Generative AI, where I serve as one of the trainers. These sessions often prompt inquiries from attendees during and after the workshops. A frequent request is to access my step-by-step explanations again in their own time and at their own pace.
To accommodate this, I have produced a video that covers one of the topics we discuss during the workshops: how to create an Excel file with ChatGPT. Of course I used some AI tools to produce this video, because I like to Walk the Talk. Can you recognize the part(s) that I generated with AI? Next time I will mention in the video the AI software that I used to create this audio and video content, just like I did in my previous videos about Generative AI.

Step by step guide to create your first Excel-file using ChatGPT.
Transcript from the video
Welcome to this quick guide on how to create an Excel sheet using ChatGPT in a few easy steps.
- Step one: Start by telling ChatGPT exactly what you need; for example, you can say create a simple Excel sheet for tracking monthly expenses.
- Step two: To be more specific, mention all columns that you need, like date, description, amount, and category.
- Step three: You can also ask ChatGPT to provide some sample data in your Excel file.
- Step four: Review and edit the code ChatGPT will provide you with a table, and it will generate the Excel formulas that you need.
- Step five: Generate the Excel file; click on the download link in your dialogue box to download the file to your computer.
- Step six: Open the file to see the generated table; you’ll instantly see the structure with the headers that you requested, and if you requested some sample data, the rows will be filled with the sample data that you asked for.
- Step seven: Customize as needed; from here, easily modify the sheet by adding more rows, adjusting columns, and entering your own data.
And that’s it; in just a few steps, ChatGPT helps you build an Excel sheet, saving you time and effort.
